Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov 28, at St Rose of Lima church here for Bridget O'Connor Meehan.
Pallbearers were, Earl Hickey, Manilla; Joe Hanrahan, Hillsboro, ND; Dr Morelle Houlihan, Ida Grove; Harold Hederman, Denison; J A McLauglin, Wall Lake and John O'Connor, Vail.
Bridget O'Connor Meehan, second youngest child of John and Mary O'Connor, was born in East Boyer township Oct 27, 1875. She lived in this community until she was married April 12, 1904, to John Meehan of Manilla.
The couple lived in Manilla until Mr Meehan died Dec 22, 1922 (Correction November 25th, 1922) following an accident.
Then Mrs Meehan and the children moved to Denison where she lived until her death.
The couple had four children: Mary Meehan Hederman, who died July 18, 1936; John Joseph Meehan and Clare Meehan, both of Denison, and Michael Francis Meehan, who is with the Army in Germany. There are also two grandchildren, three brothers, Jeremiah of Carroll, James of Denison and Michael of Topeka, Kan.
She was a member of the Catholic church. Her nephew and godson, Father O'Connor, Army Chaplain of Fort Bliss, Tex, celebrated the requiem high mass at the funeral services.
Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Council Bluffs, Omaha, Shenandoah, Imogene, Dunlap, Apache, Okla, Hillsboro, NE, Rock Island, Ill, LaSalle, Des Moines, Ida Grove, Harlan, Carroll, Sioux City, Perry, Elba, Neb, Wall Lake, Schleswig, Westside, Breda, Vail, Manilla, Buck Grove and Dow City.
