JOHN A O'CONNOR
Denison, Iowa

John A O'Connor, 44, died Sunday, June 25, in the Denison hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held from St Rose of Lima Church, Denison, Tuesday morning, with the Rev Father E F Casey and Father John O'Connor and Father Philip O'Connor, cousins of the deceased, assisting a the high requiem mass.

Members of the American Legion post of Denison, of which O'Connor was a charter member and past commander, marched to the church in a body and conducted military services at the cemetery.
Pallbearers were G L Harker, John H O'Connor, Leo Collins, Russell Hayes, Leo Miller and Harold Servoss
.
John A O'Connor was the third child of Thomas and Mary (O'Donnell) O'Connor and was born on a farm in East Boyer township near Denison, April 21, 1895. He received his education in the St Rose of Lima Parochial school, Denison, and graduated from the Denison high school. He had entered his third year at the University of Iowa when he enlisted in the army, serving in the aviation branch during the world War. John O'Connor was married to Catherine Lally, July 27, 1921, and to this union four children were born; Patricia, John, Thomas and Jerry, who, with his wife, survive him. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs Clair Nicholson and Mrs. Ed Dieter, of Vail, and one brother, Dr James O'Connor, Waterloo. For the past eight years O'Connor was a sales tax collector for the state of Iowa, having charge of the five counties.
