Thomas Michael (Tom) Talty, 73, retired farmer who lived in Atlantic for 30 years and was a lifelong resident of Cass county, died at 8 o’clock Sunday evening at the home of his brother, George Talty, five miles north of here.
Mr Talty was born near Atlantic Aug 20, 1867, the son of George and Bridget Meehan Talty. As a young man, he operated the farm on which he died. Thirty-five years ago he retired and moved to Atlantic, but when his health began to fail three years ago he moved back to make his home with his brother.
He had been bedfast since last march and was in serious condition for the past weeks.
Surviving are three brothers, George of Massena, Mike of Neola and Joe of Corning, and a sister, Mrs Martin Hickey of Casey. Mr Talty was not married.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a m Wednesday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic church in Atlantic, with the Rev P N McDermott officiating. Burial will be int eh Atlantic Catholic cemetery.
