Ryan, Leo Walter Stephen
- Born: Dec 1886
- Died: 9 Apr 1918
- Buried: Walla Walla, Washington
Leo Walter Stephen was born in Dec 1886 and his baptismal sponsors on 12 Jan 1887 were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moore. He was married to Elizabeth M. Corbett 23 Feb 1916 in St. Patrick's Church, Walla Walla by Father Black. Leo was a bookkeeper with the Schwabacher Company until 1910 when he entered the employ of the First National Bank where he was general bookkeeper and exchange clerk. On 9 Apr 1918 he said goodbye to his wife and child at their home, 517 East Rose Street, and left for work. Feeling faint, he stopped at his parents' home, 329 East Main Street, and lay down on an old couch in the living room. As Leo attempted to arise, the couch tipped and in falling forward, the revolver, which he was carrying in his inside coat pocket, slipped to the floor and discharged, the bullet first striking the metal side of the couch and then glancing and entering his chest. His mother, who was in the kitchen, rushed into the living room and found him lying on the floor where he died a few minutes later. He carried a revolver since his office at the bank was alongside the big vaults. Suicide was ruled out by the Coroner and the bank stated his accounts were in good shape. Leo was buried in the Walla Walla Cemetery.
Leo married Elizabeth M. Corbett.
