bullet  General Notes:

Catherine remained on the farm until 23 May 1914 when she sold it to her brother, Michael, .for $4600. She moved into Guelph where she ran a boarding house on Cork Street for many years. On 2 Oct 1923, Catherine, who was 53, married George Furlette, a 50 year old barber from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born in Chandler, Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec, the son of Charles Furlette and Elizabeth Button and was a widower. The name Furlette was originally Ferlatte meaning iron in French. George's grandfather was born in France and his father in Quebec.

They were married at 6:30 a.m.and after the wedding breakfast they left for their home in Sault Ste. Marie. It is not known how long they lived there but in 1927 they were living in Pontiac, Michigan as his nephew, Vernon and his wife Stella visited them. In Pontiac, George became very involved in real estate dealings and apparently was doing very well until the crash in 1929 when he lost everything. They moved to Guelph where George ran a barber shop on MacDonnell Street for many years. One wonders how Catherine and George ever met; one story is that it was through a Lonely Hearts Club.

Catherine suffered a stroke and died two days later, 8 Mar 1947, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph. She was buried on the llth in Block F Section 69 Grave 6 St. Joseph's Cemetery. George Furlette died 1 Apr 1954 and was buried two days later in Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
