bullet  General Notes:

Annie Marie was M.P. and Catherine's twelfth child and the last born in the log cabin on Lot 13 before the family moved to the house on Lot 12. She was born on 17 Oct 1882. She was baptized in The Church of Our Lady, Guelph, with her sponsors being William O'Connor and Margaret McNaughton. She was the daughter chosen by M.P. to look after Joseph while he was managing the store in Kings Mill, Michigan.

She left home 6 Dec 1913 and entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Providence 8 Dec at Kingston, Ontario and she pronounced first vows 10 Feb 1916, and Perpetual vows on 22 Nov 1918. After Profession she completed her high school at Maryvale Abbey, Glennevis, Ontario and then obtained Professional Training at Ottawa's Teacher's College.

She taught in Ontario at Smiths Falls, Perth, Arnprior and Belleville and for a few years at St. Joseph's Vocational School in Winnipeg, where she did remedial teaching as she had a special aptitude for helping children with learning difficulties. A heart attack obliged her to give up teaching in 1951, but she kept herself active at the Mother House with light duties before becoming a patient in the infirmary. She was confined to her room for about eight or nine years, going only to the Infirmary Chapel which was near her room. Her mental faculties remained alert, but her sight and hearing become seriously impaired. An operation for cataracts corrected her eye trouble, and for the last few years of her life she could read the smallest print. She was very fond of reading and derived great consolation from it, reading over and over again her favourite books. She suffered from a peculiar type of heart condition, which baffled the doctors and had caused severe attacks. She was fairly well for Christmas 1970 but early in the New Year the doctor decided to have her taken to Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston to see if further treatment could be given her heart. Their efforts, however, were of no avail and she died 11 Jan 1971. His Grace Archbishop Wilhelm celebrated her funeral Mass 14 Jan and she was buried in the sisters' plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario.
