bullet  General Notes:

The first child born to M.P. and Catherine in Puslinch was a sixth son, Francis de Sales on 25 Sep 1873. He was baptized in The Church of Our Lady, Guelph on 19 Oct and his sponsors were May Fitzpatrick and John Carroll. When he grew up he worked in J.D. Williamson's Dry Goods Store at the corner of Wyndham and McDonnell Streets in Guelph.

When he was 23, he developed tuberculosis and his father sent him west to regain his health. His brother Joseph went with him to Kansas on 2 Oct 1896, and then to Denver, Colorado on 17 March 1897. His first cousin, Frank Doyle (John and Charlotte's son) was also in Denver.

His health deteriorated and he wished to come home to die, so his brother Michael, who was living in Council Grove, Kansas, accompanied him on the sad trip home. He was only home two days when he died on Saturday 6 Nov 1897. Puslinch Township death records list the cause of death as Phthisis Pulmonary.

This is a newspaper account of his funeral:

"The funeral of Mr. Frank J. Doyle, son of Mr. M.P. Doyle, took place on Monday from the residence of his father, in Puslinch, to The Church of Our Lady. It was largely attended by the people in the immediate vicinity, who knew and highly respected the young man, and by people from the city, who drove out to the homestead to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased, and to sympathize with the family in their bereavement. Father Kenny officiated at the Church, and Father Kavanagh at the grave. The pallbearers were his six brothers."
