bullet  General Notes:

On February 28, 1858, when she was 23, she entered the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Loretto House, Guelph, being one of the first class of six to enter, since the Loretto nuns had just arrived in Guelph. She received the Holy Habit on May 1 the same year and made her religious profession on January 25, 1861 taking as her religious name Sister Mary De Sales. She taught at the convent school for twenty five years until stricken with consumption. Newspaper accounts state that "she endured her sufferings with patience and Christian fortitude". Her brother James returned home from Kansas to visit her in the fall of 1882 because she was so ill.

The Doyle Family came from County Carlow, Ireland - - For additional information please contact John Meehan (jjmeehan13@hotmail.com) or Charlene Deam (tcdeam@verizon.net)
